Shift Packaging Operator

Job Type: Full-time
Job Salary: Basic £23k-£26k+ dependant upon experience
Job Location: Salfords (Redhill), Surrey

This is an opportunity to join our By The Horns production team as a Shift Packaging Operator. In late 2020 we expanded our brewing operations to a new larger site based near Redhill, Surrey. Due to increased demand for our canned beer we are having to operate our canning line on a shift basis. This role will be focused on packaging on our canning line on a shift basis, with the majority of shift working hours being 12pm until 9pm.

Responsibilities:
– Operate our full canning packaging setup, which includes:
– operating our can depallatizer
– ensuring operations of the inline labeller and date coder
– operate our inline 6 head counter-pressure can filler, so that it runs at 1000 cans per hour
– operate auto case taping machine

–  Laboratory work such as carbonation and Dissolved Oxygen readings on pre-packaged and packaged beer.
– Inventory management of packaged beer.
– Cleaning & general good housekeeping of the packaging area
– Oversee food hygiene protocols such as HACCP and SALSA related to the packaging line.
– Management opportunities; on growing our brewing team over the next few years there will be the potential for production side management opportunities.
– Working hours will be 12pm until 9pm, Monday to Friday.

Experience and skills:

– Commercial Brewing/beer packaging experience required (at least 2 years)
– Brewing qualifications such as IBD Diploma, BSc Brewing Science or better.
– Ability to build strong working relationships
– Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
– Good record keeping skills.
– Able to comfortably lift and move kegs/cases of beer
– Forklift operating experience is desirable
– Passionate and enthusiastic about craft beer, will be able to get behind our brand and wants to become part of our dynamic team.
– Must speak fluent English, be over 18 and have right to work in the UK

Sales Account Manager

Due to recent investment and expansion By The Horns is recruiting for a full time key account manager to help grow the brand

The role will be primarily based at our new shiny new brewery in RH1 but will require regular travel around London and areas inside the M25.

Key Duties

You will make new sales and obtain new account wins to grow the brand and achieve targets by:

  • Getting behind By The Horns’ culture and representing the brewery out in the field with existing and new customers
  • Researching and capitalising on new sales opportunities
  • Developing relationships with customers by phone, email and face to face visits.
  • Meeting regularly with Directors & Sales manager to discuss future sales strategies
  • Creating sales reports on brewery specific software
  • Identifying and help implementing staff training & awareness at key accounts
  • Host events at key accounts to engage directly with the consumer on and off the brewery premises

Requirements

  • Has at least 2 year’s experience in the B2B sales industry within the beer industry, ideally that experience has been served in SE England.
  • Proven record of building brand awareness and growing sales revenue.
  • Has existing relationships with potential customers, either direct or wholesale
  • Has an excellent knowledge of the beer and brewing industry.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends as and when the job requires.
  • Right to work in the UK and fluent English speaking

Assistant Brewer

This is an exciting opportunity for a assistant brewer to join our By The Horns production team. In 2020 we expanded our brewing operations to a new larger site based near Redhill, Surrey. This Assistant Brewer role will support our Production Brewers and will enable the successful candidate to gain experience and knowledge which will allow them to develop into a Production Brewer role in a short period of time.

Responsibilities:
– Grain management; from silo to mash tun.
– Wort production on our new 30HL semi-automatic brewhouse.
– Cellar management to include CIP vessels, monitoring fermentations, dry hopping, transferring beers, and force-carbonating.
– Laboratory work such as yeast analysis, ATP swabbing, carbonation and Dissolved Oxygen readings on pre-packaged and packaged beer.
– Preparing and packaging keg beer.
– Preparing and packaging can beer on our automated canning line.
– Inventory management of raw materials and packaged beer.
– Cleaning & general good housekeeping of the production area
– Recipe development for our ever changing range of one-off special beers.
– Managing food hygiene protocols such as HACCP and SALSA.
– Management opportunities; on growing our brewing team over the next few years there will be the potential for production side management opportunities.
