Taproom & Events Manager

By The Horns Brewing Co. produces a range of award-winning beers at their production brewery situated near Redhill (East Surrey). In August they opened a taproom up on Saturdays and are now looking to grow the space with extended opening hours, creating a food offering & a range of diverse events to bring in new customers.

We are looking for someone to fill a very exciting new role. An enthusiastic, creative and energetic person to join us and develop this new venture. The position has 3 main objectives:

  1. Operations – Running the taproom day to day
  2. Marketing – Informing the community about the taproom and taproom events, through a range of direct and digital marketing.
  3. Events – You will be given the opportunity to create and run your own events working with the owners to successfully implement fun and profitable events. We have previously hosted folk festivals, comedy nights, film screenings, acoustics nights, cheese and beer pairings to name but a few.

Warehouse Operator

We are on the look out for a new full-time Warehouse Operator.
The role consists of:
– preparing and loading our delivery vans with kegs, barrels & cases of canned beer.
– cleaning casks & kegs.
– preparing pallets of beer to be shipped out.
– cleaning & keeping tidy the warehouse & brewery.
– assisting our team of brewers with any warehousing needs.

Employment Details:
– Monday to Friday 8-5pm (30min lunch break)
– strong enough to safely move/lift 50kg kegs.
– full time work.
– salaried pay of £24,000 – £26,000 per year depending on experience.
– previous experience not essential but preferable.
– 28 paid holiday days/year (bank hols. included)

Apprentice Brewer

We welcome an Apprentice Brewer to our team of brewers, whereby they will learn all there is to know about brewing some of the very finest beers. The successful candidate will combine their on the job learning with their Brewers Apprenticeship qualification to become a trained Production Brewer. Duties include assisting our Production Brewers in our brewhouse where beer is brewed on a daily basis.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Assisting our Production Brewers in our brewhouse where beer is brewed on a daily basis
  • Assisting packaging staff to package can, keg and cask beer
  • Assisting warehouse staff

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Brewer Apprenticeship Level 4.
  • The apprentice will attend 12 workshops at the International Centre for Brewing Science at the University of Nottingham. Industry experts will bring the theory and practice of brewing to life with a series of lectures, practical sessions and tutorials.
  • On-site training within our brewery on all brewing aspects
  • Self-motivated individuals will learn the theory and apply it within our brewery, with Practical Brewing Assessments & End of course exams/tests enabling the apprentice to become fully qualified and progress to being a Production Brewer.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The expected career progression would be to progress at By The Horns Brewing Co. as a Production Brewer once the apprenticeship is completed. This would be a full time position at our Production Brewer starting salary. Potential future opportunities as Lead/Area Brewer are possible. Additional learning can follow once the apprenticeship is completed, such as the IBD Diploma.
